I loved it.

I gasped.

I screamed.

I cheered.

I "awwwwww"'d

I LOL'd

and I cant wait to see it again, it was that good.

It was soo much fun, and it took me back in time and made me feel like a kid again in a lot of ways. It's movies the way they should be--fun and creative.

Yes, there were gross creatures. I mean, Raiders had snakes, Doom had bugs...etc etc. This one has a type of bug too, and man oh man did that scene gross me out!

So many nods to the fans of the original trilogy that made me smile and cheer.

Seriously, if you see only one movie this summer...see this one. Then see Iron Man. Then see Forgetting Sarah Marshall. All three were some of the best movies of their respective genres that I have seen in years.

See, spoiler free. Oh yeah, Indy gets a sex change and becomes "Indie". Just kidding. :)

Final note: Guess what I got this morning? I got the very last Wii Fit from the Target in North garland! Woot! Now...will I actually USE it and try to get "Wii fit"? That's the million dollar question. Well, technically the $97 question after tax...

"Who doesn't like Mexican Food?"

There are moments when I know that I am really from the South. Last night during a family dinner was one of them.

My sister and father were reminiscing about how my brother didn't like Tex-Mex as a kid and would sit in the car alone eating a sandwich or plain burger or something while we ate dinner inside at El Fenix and my Mother-In-Law said "He didn't like Mexican food? Who doesn't like Mexican food? What's not to like?". (And yes, remember back in the 70's when it was OK to send your kid to the car when they misbehaved? You could lock them in there and not even blink an eye. Damn I am old.) Anyway, everyone at the table totally nodded in agreement that it was bordering on blasphemy that someone could not like Mexican food. Really?

You see, when I think of the "universal food that everyone likes" I think americanized Italian food like Pizza or Spaghetti. Show me a kid that hates pizza and I will...be shocked. When you have those family dinners at school, they serve spaghetti! It's the total safe go-to food in most cases, right?

And the term "Mexican Food" is also very misleading. Now that I have been traveling a lot I fully understand that Mexican food means something different in almost every state. Allow me to clarify: when we say Mexican Food, we mean the TEX-MEX we grew up on in Texas: Refried Beans, Cheese, Tortillas, Chili, Rice and Beef/chicken assembled into things like Enchiladas, Tacos, Tamales, nachos, migas, etc. I do not mean "Central Mexican Regional Cuisine", or "Salvadorian-Mex" or even Miami's own "Cuban-Mex". I mean TEX MEX. The stuff that was americanized even further and turned into Taco Bell and Taco Bueno that has inspired billions of gringos to run for the Border and enjoy.

Lets do a visual aid. This is Tex Mex:

"Hi! I am a real Tex-Mex Combo Plate!"

See the refried beans? Those are not black beans my friend. And that's not fish in that taco. Oh no sir!!

OK, so now that you understand let's revisit the conversation:

"Who doesn't like Mexican food?"

Well, honestly...I don't personally know of anyone who doesn't. I thought about it. A lot. And even some of my "Yankee-transplant" friends like Mexican food. Now, there are many of us that may argue about the onion content or the smattering of jalapeno slices but that may just be weenies like me with tender tummies. And you may get those who do not like sour cream or guacamole, but generally you can't go wrong with cheese and tortillas paired with Beef, Chicken and/or beans.

So I ask you, is this a Southern thing or is Tex-Mex the new Pizza/Spaghetti? Will we start serving more enchiladas and fajitas than Spaghetti and Pizza at 5th grade graduation parties? Well, ok--in Texas we already do but you know, for the states that don't border Mexico?!?!

Not that you will see me complain...unless there's onions or black beans. Black beans instead of refries? Get a rope.

Mayo, Ranch, Sushi, cole slaw, Blush wine, cigarettes, country music and chicken wings.

Reasons why:

1. It's really hard to diet when you hate everything that is good for you to eat while on a diet.

2. It's really hard to socialize at cocktail parties when you do not like vodka and almost every cool grown-up cocktail is made with it.

3. It's really hard to find time to work out when sleep is so wonderful.

4. And really, sushi is just nasty.

Good things about drinking more water:

1. It's good for your skin.

2. It flushes out impurities in your muscles, tissues and organs.

3. It helps suppress your appetite.

Bad things about drinking more water:

1. Dammit, I have to pee again.

2. I'll be right back, gotta pee again.

3. Can't type now, I'm peeing again.

4. It's not coke.

1. In an e-mail chain with my boss, his wife, his assistant, anf all of the VPs and other directors like me one of the guys referenced "2girls1cup". Knowing that the rest of them would likely google it, I quickly fired off an e-mail going "DONT LOOK THAT UP! I'M SERIOUS!". Then my phone rang from my direct boss who sad "ok, so what is 2girls1cup"? now I ask you...what would you have done there? How in the world do I explain a scat film to my male boss? "Just...don't watch it. It's about feces, ok? Just...trust me." And after saying that I realized that I had never in my wildest dreams expected to have ever said that sentence in my professional life.

2. I have had to take migraine medicine every day for the past week. What the hell is up? My allergies are off the hook, causing sinus headaches that trigger migraines. Um, ow?

3. I still like LOLcats. Bring em on. Give em cheezeburgers. Take away the bukkit.

Ok, granted, not a slimming angle of me but screw it! I like it anyway!

In spite of some silliness, I had such a great time last night! I danced my booty off to the point where I could hardly walk. It was a short set but a fun show. I shot some video for boogierock and jopho as my two jr. high buddies that SOOO should have been there with me last night! I am uploading it to You Tube (under a non-descript name to avoid it getting yanked) and will post links later.

I also recorded ALL of the last song, "Wild Boys", but the file is too big for You Tube (boo!) so im uploading a small not-so-great clip from "Planet Earth" right now...

The meet and greet eariler that afternoon was a hoot because they arrived (rather uncharacteristically) early! I was walking into Rick's studio to hang out and wait for them and they were already there and in the middle of an interview! DOH! So I hung out and watched and Simon made kissy faces at me. LMAO! He was...well, he was Simon. When the interview ended they came out and Simon hugged me and kissed my cheek and I got a hug from John (squee) and me, Simon, JOhn and Nick hung out and talked about Brittish accents vs Texas accents. After they walked away I was like "OMG, I just hung out with them! AHHH!" Then I had to remind myself I'm a grown-ass woman. *heh*

After that we all went into a conference room for Pictures and hugs and that's when the above picture was taken. FINALLY, a shot with me side by side with John and still with the whole band! If there were only a way to go back in time and give that to myself in 1985. I would be so totally impressed with my future self. (Not just because of who I was with but also because I have boobs now, lmao!)

I had a blast, and I am paying for it today. My whole body hurts but it was sooo worth it! I never saw them live when I was growing up, but I've now seen them three times since 2004 and each time I've met them personally! That kinda balances it out!

OMG wasn't it just July??? Wasn't I just leaving for Atlanta?? I don't even remember August passing by.

First off, to my long-time LJ friend circlek, I am an ass. From Monday morning til I left Hotlanta on Wednesday night I was going going going. There was no free time. I have been meaning to write you and apologize for my lack of communication and then next thing I knew a month had passed! So, allow me to publically point out what a rude chick I was and apologize.

With that in mind, I LOVED Atlanta! What a pretty city! Trees and hills! Who knew?!?! I hope I get more opportunities to visit as it was a lovely time. I had dinner at some amazing places including "Dolce" and "Bones" and "Pampas". It was nice weather and a lovely hotel and I got to spend hours laughing with my TTN guys.

I got back, we went to the circus and at the show on Sunday the 5th Joel was pulled from the crowd to be IN the act with the strong man! Lily was freaked out when they pointed the cannon at him. She thought they were gonna hurt him. I was cracking up while trying to calm her down!

I worked for 4 days and then me, Joel and Lily took a quick weekend trip to South Padre Island. Lily has been BEGGING us to take her to the beach so we did. OMG she is such a beach bunny!

I got back and it was newsletters a go go. I had both the internal marketing newsletter AND the quarterly external marketing newsletters to publish in a few weeks. My Mom's 73rd Birthday would have been August 18th and I made it through it ok. Then we celebrated my sister and stepmom's birthdays, I saw Beyonce in concert with stacyfawcett, I met and attended a private concert with Ian Moore:

Lily started school, I went and saw stepladder perform his ass off in his play, and the big news: After 12 years, I finally went to see the dentist.

Yes, you read that correctly. I had a bad experience back in Arkansas with my dentist he jacked my mouth UP! Now I am paying for his mistakes and my lack of dental visits in two weeks when I will spend 5+ hours in a dental chair getting my mouth "rebuilt". I'll spare you the gory details, suffice it to say I'll be hearing that drill in my head for weeks afterward. *shudder*

So last Friday, the perpetually near-death Betta named Shiny finally went to the big fishtank in the sky. I noticed he was dead but didn't say anything in front of her so she wouldnt see him all white and dead and stuff. Once Lily was asleep I cleaned the tank out, flushed the fish and replaced the open spot with a plant. Joel and I tried to figure out what we were going to tell her about her fishy when she noticed he was gone. We figured she'd be devastated.

Well...she never even noticed. Every day we kept expecting her to go over and look at Shiny's tank but she never did. It kinda became a joke.

Finally today, one week later, she mentioned shiny to me as we pulled up to the house. KNowing that when we got inside she would get to see her birthday cake (her 4th birthday is tomorrow, can you believe it?) I knew I'd have something to lift her spirits with so I decided to tell her.

I sat there a second and said "Baby girl...I gotta talk to you about Shiny." I told her that he died and she goes "really? He's died? When?" I told her it was a few days ago and she said "well, where is he? did you throw him in the trash??" and I said "no baby. he's...in fishy heaven...he's swimming with the other dead fish in fishy heaven." and she goes "mama, he cant swim if hes dead."

She's so damn smart.

So I said "well, he's swimming with Jesus." and she wrinked her nose and said all confused "Jesus went to fishy heaven?" And I was like "shit now what" and then suddenly she winked at me and smiled and said "its ok mama." OMG. She punked me. I was stunned! When I got my wits about me I said "so honey, are you sad?" and she said "yeah i'm sad that he got deaded, but we can get another one, right?"

Shortest. mourning. ever.

So Shiny is officially gone. I told her after summer's over if she wants to get a goldfish we'll try but we're taking a break from fish. Then I asked her if she wanted Long John Silvers for dinner to see if she'd put two and two together and she didnt. At least I can still trick her some of the time.

Now she's in here with my drawing and she goes "let me see your face. I want to draw you. Hmm...you have green eyes and pink lips, and some pimples." She is such an ego booster that girl o mine.

Tomorrow is her "Backyardigans" birthday party. It's an outdoor park so I'd really like this rain to stop before the morning.

I did the morning show with Tony today. It was really fun. I can't say I'd want to get up at 3:30am again every morning but it was a flashback to the fun we had from 2003-2005. His birthday is Monday, by the way. Guess who came to MIX 1029 Today??

NUUUTEEENEEEE!! I have been a fan of Paolo's for about five months now. The first song I ever heard was not the first radio hit "New Shoes", it was actually "Last Request", and I was blown away at the soulfulness and powerful ache that came through in not only his lyrics but also his voice. I figured he was probably an older guy who had been around the block a few times. I never expected a skinny 19 year-old kid to have written those lyrics and belted out those songs! My favorite songs from the CD "These Streets" are "Loving You", "Alloway Grove","Last Request" and "Million Faces" but the whole CD is amazing.

Needless to say when I found out he was coming to MIX 1029 to play our Tab Energy Lounge I was SOOOO there! And wow, what a fantastic lunchtime treat! He put on a great acoustic set and posed for pictures afterward. (He's in the middle. I'm on the right and a very sweet girl from our accounting department is on the left.)

He kicked off with "Alloway Grove", followed by "Last Request" and "Jenny Don't Be Hasty" and a new song...well, let's just say it was really funny and a great jam and leave it at that. He's a sweet kid and with a voice like that he will be around for awhile. If you haven't done so already, check out his music. He has quickly become one of my favorite new artists. (Along with Lily Allen and The Cat Empire.)

This one is probably too old for a few...

I was driving into work today and I heard a song that took me back to the late 80s. A song that EVERY female knew every word to. I'm speaking of Jody Watley's "I'm Lookin For a New Love".

The song could not have been more perfectly produced. A beat that is tailor-made for the treadmill/stairmaster, the bass beat included the sound effect of someone getting punched in the gut to the beat, and lyrics that every woman wishes she could say to the guy that took her for granted:

God, we chicks were ALL OVER that song! Every scorned woman was in the gym sweating to that song as it motivated them. Women would dance in a big group together in the middle of the dance floor screaming the lyrics. Oh man, even at 17 I was in my room, backcombing my hair and plastering it with "stiff stuff", putting on my black minidress with black tights and enormous dangling bejeweled earrings and getting ready to go showoff my hotness for the boyfriend that did me wrong at some tacky 18+ club while reciting at the top of my lungs: "Now you're like the rest--unworthy of my best. Hasta la Vista, Baby" LMAO!

As a DJ I loved it because it was a guaranteed floor-packer and it beat-mixed perfectly into Bobby Brown's "My Prerogative". I loved her stuff, from her early days with Shalimar (C'mon, you can't take away the clubby greatness of "Dead Giveaway" and later "Dancin in the Sheets" from Footloose) to that amazing album that also had "Some Kind of Lover" and "Don't You Want Me" and "Still a Thrill" and "Most of All" and then a couple of years later when she hit with "Real Love". That was killer stuff. But of all of them, when the day comes that I really truly get back into the gym I will make sure "Lookin for a new love" in on the IMix and I will remember doing my best Fly Girl moves at Detour and Network on Greenville at Lovers to make the boys jealous. LMAO!

I found the greatest balls ever.

They are the most perfect balls you will ever taste.

I simply cannot get enough of these balls.

My mouth is watering right now thinking about those balls on my tongue!

I discovered the balls this weekend and I've been craving them ever since. They are the Fried Macaroni and Cheese Balls from Cheesecake Factory!

What did you think I was talking about?

OMG, please---you cannot understand how good they were. See, I am passionately in love with the deep dish mac and cheese at hibiscus but these are BETTER THAN THAT!

Yes, I said it! Stacy is saying "oh no she didnt" but ohhh yes I did! BETTER!

They take penne pasta and this amazing cheese sauce and they put it in this like, parmesan/ritz cracker-like breading and fry it. OMG. OMG. OMG.

BEST. BALLS. EVER.

And that's a bold statement because I've had some good balls. Like my Mother in Law's sausage and cheese balls that she makes at Thanksgiving amd Christmas! Those are good balls, but these are better.

My Mom made Divinity Balls at Christmastime that no one has replicated in their sweetness since she passed away and yet while they are dessert balls and this is more main couse balls, the fried mac and cheese balls STILL win!

And of course Chef from South Park has those chocolate salty balls but I assure you these mac and cheese balls cant be beat!

Do yourself a favor...get some balls soon. You will thank me. Ohhhh, you will thank me!

I found a recipe for them but hooo boy just go to Cheesecake Factory and try em there first.

OK, so in other news...

See now, I want to post a serious update about stuff complete with pix yet I am doing this in a post titled "Ohh I want those balls in my mouth". Maybe I should do two post? LOL!

Screw it.

So, can anyone tell me where my baby girl went? I woke up this morning and this diva had moved into the Baby's room.

Joel snapped this shot this morning as I was about to do my hair (that's why it looks like a mess of straw askew over my noggin). I am posting it because...LOOK AT HER!!

And then you look at my nephews who I swear just yesterday were Lily's age...omg! Where has the time gone?!?!

I got her new Nike shocks in like, early february. She's outgrown them. We tried on new sneakers this weekend and shes now into an 8.5 shoe. All of her clothes she got for Christmas? TOO SMALL. She's moved to the 4-6x section and rockin the 4s & 5s now. Um, ok, whoa! I still can't believe she will be 4 years old in June. Granted, it's 4 going on 14...ask anyone. This girl is a teenager. It's funny and terrifying all at once. The other moms even comment on it! She's animated and a total drama queen. I have no idea where that comes from... *whistles and looks away*

Last minute we decided to just pick up and leave town this weekend. We are leaving as soon as I get off the air on Friday night and Lily will take her first :official: airplane ride. She took one when she was barely a year old but she doesnt remember it so this is a really big deal for her! With all of the travelling that Joel and I have been doing she's obsessed with air travel so this time its her turn! We're flying to San Antonio, staying on the Riverwalk and spending ALL DAY saturday at Sea World! Of course, I just checked the forecast and it's supposed to storm all day so this will be an experience. I already bought the admission tickets, The parking pass and a behind the scenes walking tour...and it's going to never get warmer than 58 and be raining. Yay. Bonding experience, indeed!

Anyhoo, things are still rather crazy but that which does not kill us makes us stronger...which is why by the end of this year I will be ready for the UFC. HAHAHA! Work is great, as always. I love my job and oh how I love the people I work with! The local crew is still loads of fun and kickin ass and the national guys make me laugh til my sides hurt. Two of them came to Dallas a couple of weeks ago and while the data audit was hectic they are so much fun that I smiled through my exhaustion! It looks like my business travel is done for a bit which is good for Lily but it was rather exciting there for awhile! I really had a blast learning about New York and New Jersey and I now have a better understanding of why people like the northeast. Now, Im not sayin I'm turning into some "damn yankee" but I can appreciate some of the really amazing things about living in a state in the USA that has existed more than 160 years. The women in Texas are still far superior. :) (Hey, I did enjoy playnig "count the femullets" in Newark airport when I arrived, tho!) OK, enough bashing. I fell rather in love with the area in fact there were parts of New Jersey I could see living in (!!) it's just hard for a Texan to admit such things freely.

A few quick sidenotes:

1. Can it please be in the 70s again, please? To hell with 50-degree weather around Easter! We have sundresses to wear, people!

2. I guess we will never see "the Nine" on TV again, and "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip" is endangered. Why do we have shows like "The search for the next Pussycat Doll" and yet the good shows die?

St. Patrick's Day Suprise: We rode in a Fire Truck tonight!

So while many of my friends and traffic peeps were downing green beer and pub crawling I was having a quiet night with Lily and decided to test the power of my inner four-leaf clover at the "Quickie Mart" up the street. I'm Scotch-Irish (mostly Scotch) but Haggis is nasty and I don't drink Scotch and last time I checked we don't really have a cool party holiday devoted to Scotland (do we?) so I decided to latch on to the lesser half of my heritage tonight and try to cash in on the "luck of the Irish" part of the holiday in the form of the Texas Lottery. Hey, if I cant get a tan at least I can have good luck on March 17th!

As I parked in front of the store a big Sachse Fire Engine pulled in as well. Lily saw them so we got out and waved. They waved back and flashed the lights and we both giggled and went inside to buy some pink milk (for her) and blow ten bucks on Lotto, Mega Millions, Texas Two-Step and Pick Three. Yeah, I'm a high roller like that. I wonder if they ever do things Vegas-Style and give comps and upgrades if you win, you know like free 44oz cokes or hot dogs to big lotto spenders? Hmm...

Anyway, so as we were getting her milk three of the firemen came in. They came over to us and asked her if she wanted to come sit in the fire truck! She about JUMPED into their arms! I paid for the stuff and we all went out and she got to climb up in the truck and sit in the front next to the driver. Then he let her climb in his lap and she turned on all the lights and pretend to drive. As she got her tour I watched with the other firemen and we toasted St Patty's Day with our milk, water and energy drinks and laughed about what a "Wild Saturday Night" we were having. Then they put her in the back and they let her put on a helmet as they buckled her in and then invited me to jump in the front and go for a ride! We rode in the parking lot really quickly and it was awesome.

I cannot explain just how big that thing really is. I am really tall, but when I went to get out of the fire truck it was a long way down! That thing is sooo huge! When we got out they invited us to come by and tour the station house anytime we want and so in return I gave them my card and told them what I did for a living and invited them to tour the radio stations and the traffic studio anytime. Lily gave them hugs and said thank you and as we walked back she blew them kisses and talked about how cool it was and pretended to be a fireman for the rest of the night until I put her down for bed.

They were so incredibly sweet and went out of their way to make our night and I am still rather geeked out about riding in a fire truck. Not a bad St. Patty's surprise at all! Let's hope the surprising streak continues in the form of the winning lotto numbers! :)

I just scrolled back and realized that I havent posted any new Lily pictures on LJ since August! Yeah well, she's grown! LOL! You will see in the Ice pictures she is 3.5-going-on-16.

I had to pop into work two weeks ago on a Saturday and we were tearing through the office when we ran into Chris Ryan from the Edge who said in his trademark baritone delivery "hey there Amy....Hey there Little Amy". She walks like me, talks like me, sasses like me...it's eerie.

Anyway, I am going to attempt to make it into work soon...being that I always wreck my car in the ice this should be interesting. Enjoy the pictures!

So yeah, aside from proclaiming my sexual abilities I have been gone for the month of November. I'm busy but I'm good. In many ways I am better than ever, and in some...I'm a "hot mess". But aren't we all???

I hope you are doing well and that you had a fantastic Thanksgiving! I had a quickie business trip to Houston in mid-November (not long enough to stray away from Clear Lake or I would have grabbed jopho for dinner) that was a FREAKING blast and I will be taking a more pleasure-oriented slash business trip to Vegas in January with stacyfawcett to attend the CES show and, well lets be honest here...to go drink and shop and eat and gamble for four days and three nights. We got a killer rate on a room at the Palms so if I run into Britney, Paris and Lindsay I will get a picture of them as I tell them to wear some F**King panties! Eew.

Lily is off the hook. Seriously, my daughter is...well, she's a riot. No lie, we walked into Macy's at the beginning of November to go shopping for a dress for her Daddy/Daughter dance and when we walked into the department filled with killer girls' outfits and she announced "I'm gonna rock these clothes."

Yep. And after we purchased her new dress, coat and two complete outfits and were leaving she stopped me and said "but Mom, we forgot to buy shoes!!"

Is it wrong that I cannot wait til she's a teenager so we can go to NYC and TRULY shop together?

PS: The Cowboys are going to the Bowl. The Mavs look good. Dallas rules you. :)
